I bought a brush pen this past weekend, along with replacements for the Pigma Micron pens I had been primarily using thus far. Here's my first attempt to letter with it; clearly I haven't used one of these before. I hope to get better at it though, it's sorta like using a paintbrush! (I would also like to try watercolor lettering at some point..)
Need to start doing these earlier in the day/night... My friend Mike (who is doing his own 30-day project over here) pointed out to me earlier today that I am [dramatic pause] 1/15th of the way done with my project! I'm not sure if he meant that to be encouraging or discouraging, but basically, I still have many many days left. I need to start being better at carving out time instead of just.. sacrificing sleep because I don't do these until the very end of the day.
About this verse/psalm: Psalm 107 speaks a lot about God's mercy and forgiveness, and how he carries us out of our often self-inflicted darkness and rebellion into light and freedom. (Hm, that was a lot of paired words that sound very... Christian?, for lack of a better word..) The psalm repeats several verses, including "then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress". I particularly liked this verse (the one that I lettered) because it both reminds me of a time when I felt God pulling me out of darkness and fills me with hope for the places that are still dark.
